Sunny Caribbean Alternatives

Regardless of their age everyone loves Disney, but if you’ve experienced everything that there is to experience at Disney World Florida three times and the children are growing up a little it might be worth heading somewhere a little bit different.

Unfortunately, if you’re used to spending your holidays in Florida, your standards are going to be pretty high, which means there really is only one possible destination for you. For the same wonderful climate, brilliant beaches and laid back atmosphere the Caribbean has to be your holiday destination.

The major difficulty with a Caribbean holiday is picking which island to head to, each boasts sun, sea and sand (of course) but each also has its own individual style and culture that’s worth checking out.

One of the most popular destinations in the Caribbean is the Bahamas. The Bahamas are actually a collection of hundreds of different islands, of which the biggest hosts the capital Nassau. As one of the most developed regions of the Caribbean, the Bahamas tourist trade is well developed, and one of the main attractions is the Atlantis Resort and Casino, which is definitely worth a look if you decide to head to the Bahamas.

Another popular destination is Barbados. Barbados is famous for its white sandy beaches with their distinctive pink hue and is one of the few Caribbean islands where you can actually surf if you want to. Holidays in Barbados are (like most Caribbean holidays) geared towards the beach, but if you visit during early Autumn you can also see the Crop Over festival, which is the traditional celebration of the Harvest festival and an amazing experience.

The final popular option for holidays in the Caribbean is Antigua. Antigua, or more accurately Antigua’s residents, have often attracted negative publicity which has undermined the reputation of what is a fabulous place to live. Antigua is perhaps best known for its kitesurfing, and no holiday is complete unless you’ve given it a go.

Whilst holidays amongst the islands can be quite expensive there are some great value deals on offer at the moment, even if nothing can match the magic of Disney World Florida.
